History is Fun! includes admission to both museums, plus lodging at your choice of Williamsburg area hotels or B&Bs. Both museums feature extensive gallery exhibits and films, plus fun hands-on history in outdoor re-creations of a Powhatan Indian village, three ships and colonial fort at Jamestown Settlement, and at the Yorktown Victory Center, a re-created Continental Army encampment and 1780s farm. Special programming at Jamestown Settlement includes the theme month, "From Africa to Virginia" in February.
Gallery exhibits, a printed family gallery guide and guided tours of the museum’s outdoor living-history areas highlight the culture of the first known Africans in Virginia and the experience of Africans in 17th-century Virginia. Guided tours of outdoor interpetive areas compare fishing, hunting, building construction, woodworking and metalworking skills of Africans in Angola with technology used in 17th-century Virginia.
