The Christopher Newport University Wind Ensemble is comprised of the University’s most talented wind and percussion performers, most of whom are majoring in music. Located in the ocean resort of Hampton Roads, Virginia, just three hours south of Washington, D.C., CNU is a preeminent, liberal arts institution of around 5000 students. With its home in the University’s beautiful Ferguson Center for the Arts, the Wind Ensemble performs major concerts throughout the year in addition to performing at special events and ceremonies. The ensemble frequently works with national and international guest composers and conductors, providing the students challenging repertoire and immersing them in cultures from around the world. The performance will feature guest faculty soloist soprano Rachel Holland, cellist Peter Greydanus, and hornist Dan Omer in world premieres by Christopher Cook and Edwin Penhorwood in addition to works by John Estacio, John Mackey, Luis Serrano Alarcon, and John Sousa
