"The First Official Thanksgiving" documentary, which is designated as a legacy project of the 2019 Commemoration, will be broadcast at the Kimball Theater Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. during the Williamsburg Harvest Celebration. Produced by The Community Idea Stations (WCVE), the half-hour documentary tells the story of Captain John Woodlief's 1619 journey from Bristol, England to a site now known as Berkeley Plantation. The group's charter required that the day of arrival be observed yearly as a "day of thanksgiving." This is a FREE event, seating is limited. The 2019 Commemoration, American Evolution: Virginia to American 1619-2019, highlights events that occurred in Virginia in 1619 that shaped America's beginnings.
