The Quartet: Orchestrating the Second American Revolution, 1783-1789
Pulitzer prize winner, Joseph Ellis will discuss his newest book, "The Quartet." During an illustrated lecture Dr. Ellis will argue that American nationhood was a result of the efforts of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison, with the support of three others, creating, adopting and implementing the United States Constitution. Come hear the unexpected story of how and why the thirteen colonies, having just fought off the imposition of a distant centralized governing power, would subordinate themselves to a new form of government. A book-signing will follow the lecture.
