DAY 1


Busch Gardens

  • Whisk your whole family onto the Le Scoot log flume – it’s sure to be FUN and get you soaked
  • Discover Da Vinci’s Cradle, the ride that takes you back to the Renaissance
  • Get up close and learn the basics from a wolf trainer and ask the wolves to perform a behavior
  • Explore the gardens of Italy Village and enjoy rich and flavorful gelato

MORNING:

Yorktown Battlefield

Start your visit with an orientation film in the Visitor Center and get the inside story of how American independence was won at the Yorktown Battlefield. Next, wander among the museum exhibits, including field tents used by Gen. Washington during the battle. Join a park ranger for a guided walking tour of the battlefield and 18th-century town. Your kids can become junior park rangers and earn their own badges.

American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

The brand-new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is now open! Trace our country’s journey to nationhood, from the Declaration of Independence and military victory to the signing of the Constitution. At the Continental Army Encampment, discover the life of Revolutionary War soldiers – with demonstrations of military drills, musket and artillery firing, surgical and medical practices, and managing troop supplies. Take a turn in learning how to fire a cannon and even dress up in military uniforms.

Colonial Williamsburg – The Revolutionary City

Immerse yourself in the daily life of 1775 Virginia as the American Revolution gets underway, and see firsthand the challenges of creating a new government against the backdrop of war.

  • Get in on the action as the 18th-century Williamsburg citizens plan to storm the Governor’s Palace to demand the return of gunpowder removed by British soldiers.
  • Celebrate the traditions of 18th-century military music and explore the important roles played by fifers and drummers.
  • Experience the art of brickmaking in the brickyard. You may even be asked to help!
  • Tour historic sites and trade shops, join the troops as they march to victory, and much more.

AFTERNOON:

The College of William and Mary

Visit the second-oldest college in the nation, founded in 1693, where the students are not only some of the smartest in the world, but are also passionate about serving others and serious about having FUN. Stop by the Crim Dell Bridge, a gift from the class of 1964, where it is believed that if two people cross together while holding hands, they will be lifelong friends. It’s the perfect spot for photos, especially when spring blooms and fall foliage fill the surrounding area with color.

MORNING: 

Historic Jamestowne

Role-play in Historic Jamestowne as you retrace the steps of Capt. John Smith and Pocahontas on a park ranger tour. Or join an archaeology tour to see the original 1607 James Fort up close and hear about the most recent discoveries. You can also visit the Archaearium, Historic Jamestowne’s archaeology museum, to view artifacts excavated from the site.

Jamestown Settlement

This is where America’s legacy begins. Travel back in time through exciting film, exhibits and outdoor living-history experiences to discover how the English, Native American and African cultures merged in 17th-century Virginia. Climb aboard replicas of English ships, try on armor in the colonists’ fort, learn about growing food in the Powhatan Indian Village and don’t forget to supplement your experience with museum guides for kids.
