Virginia Living Museum
This museum is a spectacular combination of native wildlife park, natural science museum, aquarium, botanical preserve, planetarium theater and observatory - all in one wood lakeside setting.
Kids will especially enjoy the touch tank with its sea stars and horseshoe crabs. Learn the secrets of how plants and animals survive in the wild. The outdoor nature trail winds through the woods, bringing you up close to Virginia's wildlife in natural settings, including bald eagles, bobcats, fox, deer, wild turkeys, herons, egrets and pelicans.
View endangered red wolves. Get up close to a loggerhead turtle and moon jellies. See with with no eyes and frogs that change colors. Touch live spider crabs and fossilized dinosaur tracks. Living exhibits depict Virginia's natural heritage from the mountains to the sea. Experience a steamy cypress swamp and cool mountain cove. Explore the underwater world of the Chesapeake Bay and the underground realm of a limestone cave. Enjoy hand-on activities. See spectacular views of the sun from the observatory.
Outdoors, stroll the boardwalk to view coastal birds, bald eagles, beavers, bobcat, river otters and other animals in naturalized habitats, plus native plant gardens. Brave the Stomping, roaring, robotic dinosaurs come alive May 24 - Sept. 1, 2008 with DINO-MANIA!, an all-new exciting exhibit from Kokoro, the inventor of robotic dinosaurs.

Hours: Labor Day to Memorial Day 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Summer hours 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Closed Thanksgiving, December 24, 25 and January 1.
