Watermen's Museum
Located on the waterfront, just upriver from Riverwalk Landing, you'll find the Watermen's Museum, whose mission is to demonstrate the role Chesapeake Bay watermen, from pre-colonial to modern times, have played in shaping our nation. You'll find historical displays, exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, and an in-depth look into the trade.
The Watermen's Museum offers school and civic group educational field trips. And every summer, you can sign up for special children's camps and programs that touch on the subjects of archaeology, boat building, nature, and the history of pirates! A volunteer team operates the Chesapeake Bay boat-building program. From a two-person skiff to a colonial gunboat, you never know what vessels you'll spot on the beach being built and refurbished.
The gift shop features a variety of nautical items, including boat reproductions, solar wind chimes, Yorktown items, and much more.
