Explore the country's colonial past at the world's largest living-history museum, Colonial Williamsburg. Much of the site is open and welcoming visitors, including the Governor's Palace, Capitol Building, and socially distanced costumed interpreter interactions. Colonial Williamsburg also offers Homeschool Experiences with supplemental videos and activity sheets, as well as an extensive teacher resource library containing videos, classroom lessons, and interactive web activities that are navigable by era, theme, and subject.

Experience America's first permanent English colony through film, gallery exhibits, and outdoor living history at Jamestown Settlement. The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown tells the story of the nation’s founding. Both museums offer a virtual learning center.

Visit the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America at Historic Jamestowne, and watch Jamestown Rediscovery archaeologists excavate James Fort. An educator will remotely bring Jamestown's history and archaeology to your school via Virtual Classroom Programs and homeschooling parents can also download lesson plans. JR Kids at Home offers downloadable activities for kids to learn more about Jamestown.

Walk in Alexander Hamilton’s footsteps and visit the British redoubt that Hamilton stormed in 1781 in the last major battle of the Revolutionary War at Yorktown Battlefield. Children up to age 12 can learn via The Junior Ranger Program.

Whether it’s remote or in-person, students are back in school, and families are doing their best to help them learn during this new version of normal. If you’re in need of a break that offers safe outdoor activities that follow strict social distancing and protective protocols, consider the landmark colonial-era destinations in Greater Williamsburg. Stay and learn for a week or two, or even a month!

If you can’t get away, enjoy one-of-a-kind activities remotely via countless virtual learning experiences that combine education and entertainment (emphasis on entertainment!).
