The James City County Historical Commission and the Combined Veterans Organizations of Williamsburg will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the United States entry into World War I on Thursday, April 6. The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. at the Veterans Tribute Tower in New Town, 5380 Discovery Park Boulevard.

The ceremony will honor all who served in World War I and will recognize by name the 10 Soldiers and Marines from James City County and Williamsburg who lost their lives during the war. The event is free and all interested members of the public are welcome to attend.

The James City County Historical Commission was established by the Board of Supervisors on July 8, 1985, to document, commemorate, preserve and promote public interest in the history and historic legacy of the County. As part of that effort, the commission works to increase public awareness of the County's history by conducting and encouraging activities at all educational levels that will stimulate interest in the County's history.
