Over the centuries, our community has continued to grow and change. Many of us are recent arrivals, but some of our families have roots that stretch back over hundreds of years.

Do you know where your family comes from, and how you came to be a part of the Hampton Roads community? On August 11, please join The Mariners' Museum and Park and the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society for a unique workshop exploring our family histories. Whether you're a seasoned genealogist or just beginning to uncover your family's story, the genealogy experts of AAHGS will help you to explore your roots.

Over the course of this three-hour workshop, we'll explore our histories using online databases, discuss strategies for family record-keeping, and learn a few advanced techniques for finding details about the lives of our ancestors. Please bring a laptop computer if you have one. A few extra computers will be available to use.

Please meet in the Museum Lobby.
