Step back in time to 1934 and meet the mayor's wife during your tour of Bassett Hall. Mrs. George P. Coleman became a close personal friend of the Rockefellers during their restoration of Williamsburg. Bassett Hall, a two-story, 18th-century frame house located on 585 acres of gardens and rolling woodlands, is a part of the story of the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg. It was in this house that John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his wife Abby Aldrich Rockefeller made their home during the early restoration of the Historic Area, a restoration they themselves financed.
