In the event of inclement weather, closings, and other important information, please make sure you’re signed up to receive alerts from the three municipalities.

Partner Updates:

  • The Greater Williamsburg area has accommodations available. To see a list of all lodging options, please click here
  • To ensure the safety of our guests, ambassadors and animals, Busch Gardens will be closed on Sat., Sept. 15 due to Hurricane Florence. Guests can visit the website, and follow its Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest park information.  
  • Colonial Williamsburg has an alert banner on their website. They will continue to update accordingly via the website, Facebook, and Twitter. Colonial Williamsburg hotels will remain open. There is a 25% discounted rate off BAR at The Lodge. 
  • Historic Jamestowne is closed through Friday. Jamestown Island is within the mandatory state ordered evacuation zone for coastal Zone A. Artifacts and cultural resource collections have been relocated to a safe location while the park continues to monitor the storm. The scenic Island Drive is closed to cyclists and pedestrians. All Jamestown Rediscovery tours and programming is cancelled through Sunday. Check Facebook and Twitter for updates. 
  • The Colonial Parkway will remain open however motorists, cyclists and other users are highly discouraged from using the scenic byway. Drivers could be at risk and the roadway could become impassable due to increased ground saturation levels and unanticipated downed trees.
  • At Jamestown Settlement, the Thursday evening lecture by Jonathan Dull ("The Treaty of Paris and the Birth of the United States") is cancelled. Check Facebook and Twitter for updates.
  • The Virginia Living Museum is closed Friday, September 14, and Saturday, September 15. The following events scheduled to take place this Saturday have been RESCHEDULED for Saturday, September 22: Dino on the Loose 1-1:15 pm & Outdoor Family Playdate (Bugs, Insects and More) 10 am and 1 pm.
  • All York County special events for this weekend are cancelled. This includes Friday night’s Rhythms on the Riverwalk concert (which will not be rescheduled), and Saturday morning’s Yorktown Market Days. Check Facebook and Twitter for updates. 
  • Yorktown Battlefield including tour roads will be closed definitively on Wednesday September 12 and Thursday September 13 and will remain closed on Friday September 14. The park sites will be reopened after storm damage assessments and cleanup have been completed. Continue to check the NPS website for additional information.
