Motorcoach Drivers

Help yourself and the environment at the same time!  The Williamsburg area offers several locations for motorcoach drivers to park and relax. Forget idling on the street corner. Head over to one of the locations listed below for a chance to unwind while your tour group visits the local attractions.

Colonial National Historical Park Service Information

 

Special Note Concerning the Colonial Parkway

The National Park Service (Colonial National Historical Park) requires a permit for commericial vehicles on the Colonial Parkway, part of the Colonial National Historical Park. A one-day permit ($3.00) is available at Historic Jamestowne or the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center. Annual permits are also available. Student educational groups may qualify for a waiver. Vehicle Size Restrictions:

Colonial Parkway
Single axel vehicles – 10 tons of maximum weight
Double axel vehicles – 15 tons of maximum weight
Jamestown Island Tour Roads – 5 tons of maximum weight
Yorktown Battlefield East and West Tour Roads – 5 tons of maximum weight

 

Height Restrictions:

Colonial Parkway
C&O Railroad Bridge (Lafayette Street) – 12.5 feet maximum height
All other overpasses on the Colonial Parkway – 13.5 feet
Capitol Landing Road Bridge – 13 feet maximum height
Williamsburg Tunnel* – 14.75 feet

Parking Information

 

Busch Gardens

All motorcoaches are to park in the ENGLAND LOT. This is complimentary for all vehicles containing 15 or more passengers. Bus Drivers receive free admission to the park (only valid on the day of the group visit). Call 800-343-7946 for more information.

 

Colonial Williamsburg

Ample parking is available at the Visitor Center. All buses going to the Group Arrivals Building or the Visitor Center should enter from Route 60 (Bypass Road).

The bus waiting area by the Group Arrivals Building is for on and off bus loading (15 minutes). Long-term bus loading is available northeast of the Group Arrivals Buiding  and also on First Street off of Capitol Landing Road.

After 5:00 p.m., Tavern bus parking is available on the corner of Botetourt and Franklin Street.

Additional On and Off bus loading (15 minutes) in the Historic Area are found at the following locations:

  • Waller Street
  • Francis Street
  • Nassau Street (DeWitt Wallace Museum)

Historic Yorktown & Riverwalk Landing

Along Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown, motorcoach pulloffs are available for easy unloading. Convenient motorcoach parking is offered at the National Park Service from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the York County Administration building from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. To view an area map of Historic Yorktown, please click here. Water Country USA

When buses go through the toll plaza, they are directed to the far left area of the parking lot (the lot is a big square, nothing too complicated). Bus drivers should follow the drive all the way to the left and park there. Call 800-343-7946 for more information.
