The Williamsburg Tourism Council receives PR leads and requests for story content on a continuous basis from local, regional and national media outlets. Below is a listing of recent inquiries with an associated deadline for content submission.  

STORY: Father's Day Gift Guide: Virtual Travel Experiences 

Deadline: May 28, 12pm ET

Visit Williamsburg has an opportunity with a Forbes.com writer who is working on a Father’s Day gift guide. To participate, please send examples of virtual travel experiences that suit dads of all interests (i.e., beer/spirits, sports, culinary, history and hobbies). Preference will be given to experiences that don’t have to be watched or scheduled to watch right away. Please respond by 12pm ET on Thursday, May 28.

 

STORY: Hotels, restaurants and attractions that are now open   

Deadline: Ongoing

Visit Williamsburg has started to receive inquiries from the media regarding updates on hotels, restaurants, and attractions that are now open or will open in the next few weeks as state restrictions slowly start lifting. If you have updates you would like to share, please send us via email the name of your business, a link to your website, when your property officially opens, an overview of what you are doing to protect guests against COVID-19, starting rates/entrance fees (can be a range for hotels and attractions, and please indicate if taxes/fees are not included) and a selection of high resolution images.  

 

STORY: GRADUATION  

Deadline: Ongoing

Visit Williamsburg is seeking fun, creative, virtual, and DIY content centered around graduation (pre-K, K-12, nursing school, etc.); from unique zoom backgrounds and DIY invites you can make and mail from home, to clothing and meals offered online or curbside. If your business has an experience, activity or product to promote, please send your initiatives via email.

 

STORY: FATHER’S DAY

Deadline: June 8, 2020

Visit Williamsburg is seeking information around Father’s Day celebrations. Examples include virtual events, tours, classes and tutorials, downloadable cards, DIY gifts, and meals/beverages to go. Please send initiatives via email.

STORY IDEA:  VIRTUAL MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION 

Due Date: May 4, 2020

With Mother’s Day coming up, Visit Williamsburg is starting to see reporters ask for ways to celebrate virtually – recipes (drinks, brunch, dinner, desserts), arts and crafts, gifts you can make at home, etc. If your business has something along those lines we can promote, please keep us posted. These would be how-to videos, recipes or instructions that are posted on your website or social media channels, or zoom meetings/tutorials scheduled that you are promoting or have posted and accessible online. Please send your initiatives via email by 3 p.m. on May 4, 2020.

STORY IDEA:  INITIATIVES TO SAVE/STOP FOOD WASTE

Due Date: Thursday, April 23, 2020

The Virginia Tourism Corporation is looking for stories from restaurants or local organizations who have, or had, an initiative to shave/stop food waste during COVID-19. They are putting together a pitch about efforts to feed people verses throwing away because restaurants are closed. In extension of this, they would love to hear about stories of people doing good deeds, which are very appreciated during this time.  Please send your initiatives via email by 3 p.m. on April 23, 2020.
