See Eight Million Reasons to Enjoy the Season

Busch Gardens' Christmas Town features the biggest Christmas light display in North America with more than 8 million twinkling lights, two KIDsiderate areas and an assortment of thrill rides including the roller coasters, Verboten and InVadR, entertainment and dining. Christmas Town opens on Nov. 24 and runs on select days through Jan. 1, 2018.

Be Enlightened at the Grand Illumination

Get downtown early and enjoy a meal or a drink, gawk at the decorations and listen to the music before the Grand Illumination show. Then grab a blanket and get a prime spot for the finest of fireworks in Williamsburg. In the 18th century, illuminations celebrated major events including military victories, the anniversary of the reigning sovereign’s birth, or the arrival of a new colonial governor. There will be musical performances from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m..  The fireworks light up the sky starting at 7 p.m. from three locations: the Capitol, the Magazine and the Governor’s Palace.

Fifes, Drums and the Big Yorktown Tree

On Dec. 1, all sidewalks lead to Yorktown's Riverwalk Landing for the annual Christmas tree lighting, a tradition since 1945. The fun begins at the Yorktown Victory Monument at 7:00 p.m. on Main Street with a performance by the Fifes and Drums of York Town.  At 7:30 p.m., the Yorktown Crier leads a lighted procession from the Monument, through the historic village, down to Riverwalk Landing for the tree lighting. Expect a visit from Mr. and Mrs. You Know Who for the kids.

Lights on the Water, Fire on the Beach

Look over, not up for the lights in Yorktown on Dec. 2 starting at 6 p.m. during the Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade. Sail and powerboats will compete for the best in show in a floating parade of lights off Riverwalk Landing. But that's not all you'll find along the Yorktown waterfront. There will be caroling around a roaring bonfire, music and complimentary hot cider.

Shop, Gawk and Celebrate at Yankee Candle Village

If it's the holiday season all year round at Yankee Candle Village, imagine what December is like. Nothing compares. Don't miss the tree lighting on Nov. 18 and the more than 45,000 square feet of interactive shopping and fun. Stroll through the twinkling Holiday Park with more than 40,000 ornaments. Enjoy original animated musical entertainment and other activities.

Share the Downtown Lights

Gather in Market Square for classic carols, a reading of A Visit from St. Nicholas, and learn about the first Christmas tree in the United States. Then gasp as the flip is switched to light the Williamsburg Community Christmas Tree. The fun begins at 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 21.
