1. Busch Gardens
For the first time ever, Busch Gardens Williamsburg will open year-round with ALL-NEW limited capacity outdoor special events.
Busch Gardens Winter Weekends (January 15th – 24th) is a brand new, limited capacity special event that features dazzling lights, thrilling rides, and inspiring wildlife experiences. Park-goers are invited to celebrate 2021 in a winter wonderland of fun by strolling through villages filled with beautiful lights at night, braving the thrills of thirteen rides including three roller coasters and Sesame Street® Forest of Fun, encountering unique animals not normally featured at the park, participating in special kid activities, and viewing a spectacular fireworks finale on Saturday evenings. Winter Weekends will be offered Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with day and evening sessions available. Reservations are required, and admission is included for Membership, Annual Pass, and Fun Card holders.
Mardi Gras (January 29th – February 28th) The “Big Easy” meets big thrills! Explore eight decorated villages filled with Cajun food, cocktails, and immersive live entertainment and music in this limited capacity special event. Enjoy thirteen roller coasters and attractions, including Sesame Street® Forest of Fun as well! Mardi Gras will be offered Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Reservations are required and will be available soon, and admission is included for Membership, Annual Pass, and Fun Card holders.
2. Ghost Tours
Tales of spirits are not just reserved for Halloween in one of America’s oldest destinations. Walking tours can be found year-round, with expert guides taking you through eye-witness interviews and historic events. If you’re brave enough, click here to read some stories before your visit.
3. Biking and Hiking
There are so many paths you’ll want to bike in Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown, given the milder temperatures in Virginia. Whether it’s a paved trail or an adventurous mountain bike path, you’ll find your cycling speed here. Feel like getting right into nature? The hiking trails are calling you this winter in Virginia! Take a walk through the beautiful woods and wetlands to spot wildlife and discover scenic vistas.
4. Ice Skating
A winter wonderland awaits you at Liberty’s Ice Pavilion. Through February 15th, bring family and friends to historic Duke of Gloucester Street for a spin around the ice rink. Take a break in between and sip on hot cider, coffee, and more. If you’re staying for dinner, Merchants Square is just across the street.
5. Market Days
Yorktown Market Days is offering two new experiences this winter with the Winter Market and Valentine’s Day Market events. Stop by the historic waterfront to support local small businesses and purchase items such as baked goods, gourmet chocolates, fine art, crafts, and more.
