Waller Mill Park

Waller Mill Park, located in Williamsburg, offers a two mile asphalt trail designed for both bikers and walkers alike. The path is beautifully shaded under the canopy of the surrounding trees. Lookout Tower is located directly off the trail, offering a perfect spot to take a break from biking, with beautiful views of Waller Mill Reservoir or even perhaps, pause for lunch at the picnic tables nearby. Waller Mill Park also features three walking trails for the entire family to enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and water views.

New Quarter Park

Looking for a unique biking experience? This one is for you. New Quarter Park has a six mile, single-loop mountain bike trail designed and maintained by the Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association. Begin by following the contours of a natural ravine before sliding into this course's tight turns and climbs. You'll enjoy the fast-paced fun of the elevated platforms and ramps.

Historic Yorktown

Rent a bicycle from Patriot Tours & Provisions in Yorktown to enjoy a leisurely ride along the York River. You'll pass quaint shops, beautiful river views, a scenic beach, and can even extend your ride into Yorktown Battlefield for a trip into history. Several marked paths are available to explore by bicycle on Yorktown Battlefield, including the seven mile Battlefield Tour and nine mile Encampment Tour.

Capital Trail

The Virginia Capital Trail is a favorite among avid cyclists. Extending from Virginia's colonial capital of Jamestown to its current capital of Richmond, this 51.7-mile, fully-paved trail runs through four jurisdictions, with dozens of attractions along the way. Be sure to stop in at Spoke + Art for coffee and snacks. They also have a great selection of rental bicycles if you don't bring your own.

York River State Park

Multiple mountain bike trails, ranging in distance and skill level, are available at York River State Park. Black Bear Run is an excellent place for beginners, with only slight elevations and obstacles. For the advanced rider, the Marl Ravine Trail twists and turns as it follows steep ravines cut into ancient shell deposits.

Greensprings Interpretive Trail

Greensprings Interpretive Trail is a three and a half mile nature trail that loops through a landscape of beaver ponds, wetlands, and forests. The trail includes sections of wooden boardwalk as well as interpretative signs covering the environment, historical events of the early colonists and Native Americans, and area wildlife. This trail is dog-friendly and is also part of the Virginia Birding Trail.

Colonial Parkway

This National Scenic Byway links Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown in a beautiful 23 mile ride. The area features scenic overlooks, interpretive pull-off areas, and fishing stops.
