This new exhibition features more than 60 items made by sailors or artisans at sea. For centuries, sailors have used their leisure time to create objects and artworks that document life at sea, commemorate historic events or simply celebrate the extraordinary skill of the maker. Scrimshaw – carved or engraved whale ivory or walrus tusks, made by whalers – is one of the most well-known, sailor-made arts.

The Ed Shed is an interactive space where kids and families can share in the moment of discovery and examine real artifacts found at the site. Enjoy an array of hands-on activities, such as pottery mending or screening for artifacts, to learn more about the importance of archaeology and conservation. At the "sorting and picking" station, lend a hand and help the archaeological team by combing through excavated material to discover the tiniest clues to fort life in the 17th century!

The Summer Breeze Concert Series is returning this year - bigger and better than ever! Merchants Square partnered with the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and CultureFix VA to extend the schedule to 16 weeks with an exciting concert every Wednesday from 6-9pm, June 6-Sept 19.

The concerts are being "Unleashed" off DoG Street and moving to the Lawn of the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum in Colonial Williamsburg.
