We are proud to present Guerrilla Girls: Conscience of the Art World in the Herman Graphic Arts Room as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of coeducation at William & Mary and in Virginia. In 2017, the Museum acquired the Guerrilla Girls Portfolio Compleat, a portfolio that contains over 150 posters and projects created by the Guerrilla Girls from 1985 through 2016.

Step back into the Golden Age of Piracy as Riverwalk Landing and the Watermen's Museum are invaded by seafaring marauders. Landlubbers of all ages are invited to visit the Historic Yorktown waterfront to learn lessons and legends from pirates' lives in the 17th and 18th centuries. There will be plenty of activities for the kids. Explore our pirate encampment, attend pirate school, and witness a pirate trial! Sing along with the sea shanties and don't miss the exciting cannon demonstrations.

In partnership with the Virginia Cooperative Extension, the City of Newport News Natural Resources Division, and the City of Newport News Recycling Office, The Mariners' Museum and Park is hosting a rain barrel workshop! Participants will be guided through rain barrel assembly and will get to take home a finished product after this two-hour workshop. Since 1895, archaeologists have been searching for evidence of Sir Walter Raleigh’s legendary 1587 “Lost Colony” on Roanoke Island in North Carolina. Nicholas Luccketti, First Colony Foundation research vice-president, will present an overview of the history of the search, focusing on the excavations of 1991-1993, led by the late Ivor Noel Hume, that successfully identified a 1585 scientific workshop at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.
