The archaeology from inside the fort site offers evidence that local Native tribes were frequent visitors during the earliest years of the settlement. Join Daniel Firehawk Abbott of the Nanticoke people from Maryland's Eastern Shore to learn about the material culture and lifeways of the Tidewater Algonquians as well as their interactions with the settlers of Jamestown.

Coopering – the making of wooden storage containers – has existed for over 3,000 years. At Jamestown casks were to transport cargos of wine, beer, tobacco, sugar, and salt. Step back into the Golden Age of Piracy as Riverwalk Landing and the Watermen's Museum are invaded by seafaring marauders. Landlubbers of all ages are invited to visit the Historic Yorktown waterfront April 27 & 28 to learn lessons and legends from pirates' lives in the 17th and 18th centuries. There will be hands-on activities, and a treasure hunt for the kids. Explore our pirate encampment, attend pirate school, and witness a pirate trial!
